The Valders Viking Striders Club has been running the streets of Valders for over
30 years now and is a non-profit organization open to anyone who wants to enjoy running
or walking! There are no entry fees or dues! We host our annual Strider fun run
held in conjunction with the Summer picnic the first Saturday in August, and work
together with the Valders schools Cross Country program.
Beginning on Mon. June 11th we start “Speedy Striders!” Open to anyone who wants
to get in a good speed workout! Each week we will vary the type of workout but the
focus will be on speed! This begins at 3:30 and ends at 5:00 each Monday, except
for our CC clinic Mondays. Beginning Tues. June 12th the Striders will host running
in the park at 3:30-5:00. It is free and open to the public, come join in the fun!
This begins the start of the Mon/Tues/Thurs running for the season. We wiill have
Thursday afternoon group runs as well as the Team Captains and other runners lead
All of the runs are open to all ages, schools, and cities!! The sessions last about
45 minutes and are geared toward any level of running ability!! See the picture
pages for an idea of what the workouts might be!
Beginning on June 12th-2019 and every other Wednesday at 6:00 , there is a
fun run/race in Manitowoc at THE YMCA*****NEW LOCATION!!. You can do either a 2
OR 3 MILE RACE for $1.00 entry fee! The races begin at the trail by the Y and go
out and back in. They are very easy courses, and there are award ribbons for top
3 in age groups! There are refreshments after the race. It is open to anyone who
wants to run or walk the courses.
Our club race is on Saturday, Aug. 3rd at 8:00 am in Valders at the track. It is
our annual Strider 2 and 5 mile fun run! It too is a low cost race open to anyone!
There are also short distances for the youngsters as well! As always it is a great
chance to Challenge others on the streets of Valders, and again we will have the
“Iron Viking” award to anyone who does the 2 and the 5 mile race that day. This
a tough “Challenge” and deserves to be called “Iron Viking” as you first run the
2 mile course and within 30 minutes have to run the 5 mile course! The entry form
