            Welcome to the Striders page!

The Valders Viking Striders Club has been running the streets of Valders for over 30 years now and is a non-profit organization open to anyone who wants to enjoy running or walking!  There are no entry fees or dues!   We host our annual Strider fun run held in conjunction with the Summer picnic the first Saturday in August, and work together with the Valders schools Cross Country program.

Beginning on Mon. June3rd we start “Speedy Striders!”  Open to anyone who wants to get in a good speed workout!  Each week we will vary the type of workout but the focus will be on speed!  This begins at 3:30 and ends at 5:00 each Monday, except for our CC clinic Mondays.  Beginning Tues. June 4th the Striders will host running in the park at 3:30-5:00.  It is free and open to the public, come join in the fun!  This begins the start of the Mon/Tues/Thurs running for the season.  We will have Thursday afternoon group runs as well as the Team Captains and other runners lead the run.

All of the runs are open to all ages, schools, and cities!!  The  sessions last about 45 minutes and are geared toward any level of running ability!!   See the picture pages for an idea of what the workouts might be!

Our club race is on Saturday, Aug. 3rd at 8:00 am in Valders at the track.  It is our annual Strider 2 and 5 mile fun run!  It too is a low cost race open to anyone!  There are also short distances for the youngsters as well!  As always it is a great chance to Challenge others on the streets of Valders, and again we will have the “Iron Viking” award to anyone who does the 2 and the 5 mile race that day.   This a tough “Challenge”  and deserves to be called “Iron Viking”  as you first run the 2 mile course and within 30 minutes have to run the 5 mile course!  The entry form and maps of the courses are posted on the website, “Fun-run entry-1” and “Fun-run entry-2”
